Rape Case Mumbai Court issues summons to director Madhur Bhandarkar will be tried for raping Preeti Jain

Preeti Jain moved an application in Andheri court in 2009, alleging that she was repeatedly raped by the director from 1999 to 2004.

In July 2004, Pretti, living in Malad suburb of north Mumbai accused Bhandarkar of rape on the pretext of giving her a lead role in his film.

Pretti alleged that she slept with Bhandarkar from 1999-2004 as he promised her a role in his films and marriage.

In a statement later, Pretti alleged, "We had sex 16 times and Madhur made promises of giving me a lead role in his films.
However, he didn't offer me a lead role in any of his movies. At times when I refused, he raped me."

After that local Police did the investigation and submitted its summary report stating that there was no evidence of rape against the director.

The trail was stayed and Preeti Jain moved the Mumbai court against that order.

Now Mumbai court has rejected the police report and said that Bhandarkar will be tried in the case.

The Andheri Railway Mobile Court today issued summons asking Bhandarkar to appear before it Oct 18 and file his statement in the case, failing which he will be arrested,"

Madhur Bhandarkar can apply for anticipatory bail in the Mumbai Sessions Court.

Now Madhur Bhandarkar will file appeal against this order and he will get the anticipatory bail from the sessions court.
