SC court orders day to day trial in 2G scam no adjournments
and appoints advocate UU Lalit as special public prosecutor

The Supreme Court said that it will direct the special court to hold day-to-day trial without any adjournment. Supreme Court said that no adjournment on any basis would be allowed
A bench of justices G S Singhvi and A K Ganguly said it will pass a formal order on this issue on April 11


Brushing aside Centre's objections Turning down the Centre's plea seeking one week time to come out with an alternate name a bench of justices GS Singhvi and AK Ganguly said it will pass a formal order on the appointment of senior advocate UU Lalit as special public prosecutor for holding the trial of former telecom minister A Raja and others in the 2G spectrum case on April 11.

Supreme Court also said that lalit will also have the choice to suggest the names of other prosecutors to assist him in the case

Additional Solicitor General (ASG) Indira Jaising, said that Supreme Court should also record her statement on government's reservation on the name of Lalit.

The special court exclusively set up for holding the trial 2G scam will start its proceedings from April 13.

Who is senior advocate UU Lalit?
Lalit had been in the lawyer's panel for the Maharastra government and the Centre for 15 years and five years respectively
He had a vast experience in various criminal laws.

In an another development Union Home Ministry asked Mumbai and Delhi Police to provide security to seven people who have given "confessional" statements in the 2G scam case.

NDTV reported that Union Home Secretary G K Pillai had written to both Mumbai Police Chief Arup Patnaik and Delhi Police Commissioner B K Gupta, asking them to provide security to the seven "witnesses" who had recorded their "confessional" statements under section 164 CrPC before a magistrate.

2G scam – 2 Deaths
1.
Sadhick Batcha(30), a close aide of former Union Telecom Minister A Raja, died in Chennai last month under mysterious circumstances

2.
30-year-old Deepak Pushpanathan, Raja's wife's cousin, died on Wednesday.

CBI in its chargesheet has said that money was routed through Batcha's company to Kalaignar TV Pvt Ltd in which Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's wife Dayaluammal was one of the owners.
